How to choose Brazilian green coffee for your roastery
A practical checklist for comparing Brazilian green coffee lots, technical information and samples before requesting a quote.

01
Start with the cup you need
Define the intended use before comparing offers: an espresso blend, a single origin or a new product for your customers. Write down the profile you need and the role of the lot in your production.
The label ‘Brazilian coffee’ is not enough to select a lot. Use origin and technical information as a starting point, then assess the sample with your own evaluation procedure.
02
What to ask your supplier
Compare offers for specific lots rather than broad commercial categories. Ask for clarification before buying when information is missing.
- Lot reference, region and producer or cooperative where available.
- Species or variety, harvest and declared processing method.
- Screen size, quality-control information and available documentation.
- Available quantity, packaging and minimum order.
- Price, delivery destination and included or excluded costs.
03
Compare samples, not just descriptions
Request a sample linked to the offered lot and keep its reference. Evaluate it using a repeatable procedure and record roast, preparation and sensory observations.
A score or tasting description does not replace checking suitability for your blend and roasting conditions.
04
Check supply continuity
Ask whether the offer covers available stock or a future import, how long the quotation remains valid and what delivery timing is expected. A sample does not imply immediate stock availability.
For a recurring blend, discuss repeat orders and potential substitutions. Include quantity and destination in your first enquiry to receive a comparable offer.
